Easyjet 2024 Baggage Allowance - Everything you need to know

Your destination is decided, your flights are booked and you’ve got a brand new suitcase to ensure your holiday wardrobe arrives in style – you might now be wondering about easyJet’s baggage restrictions. If so, you’ve come to the right place.

We’ve taken a little look at the rules so that you don’t have to. From easyJet cabin bag sizes to hold bag weights, this guide will help you get ahead of the pack.

All information in this blog post is correct at the time of writing, which is August 2024.

Easyjet Cabin Bag Size

Every passenger is allowed one small cabin bag free of charge. Bear in mind that this bag should measure no more than 45 x 36 x 20 cm, including handles and wheels. It should weigh no more than 15kg and you should be able to stash it in an overhead locker yourself.

If you’re travelling as an easyJet Plus member and you’ve added a large cabin bag to your booking, you can bring that bag (up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm) with you as well as your small cabin bag. If you’re travelling with a FLEXI fare, you can also bring a large cabin bag, depending if there’s space on board.

If you don’t want to upgrade to easyJet Plus or FLEXI fare but you’d still like to fly with a larger cabin bag, you can pay to add one to your booking separately. Choosing this option will also get you speedy boarding privileges so you’ll be one of the first to board.

easyJet’s FLEXI Fare

With unlimited free flight changes within a 14-day window, a large cabin bag, seat selection and speedy boarding, easyJet’s FLEXI fare tickets will get your holiday off to a flying start. On top of that, it includes fast-track security at selected airports and a dedicated bag drop. FLEXI fare passengers can also enjoy a 23kg hold bag allowance and complimentary in-flight refreshments.

easyJet Checked Baggage

easyJet's checked baggage policy allows you to purchase up to three hold bags per person, with each bag weighing up to 23kg. If you prefer to pack a little extra and you’re willing to pay a higher fee, there’s also a heavier bag option that gives you 32kg to play with. Either way, it’s recommended that you pre-book online to avoid having to pay at the airport.

easyJet Excess Baggage

If you do end up exceeding your pre-purchased baggage allowance, easyJet has flexible solutions to accommodate you. With their excess baggage policy, you’ll be charged per kilogram up to a maximum of 32kg.

Don’t forget that if your cabin bag is too large or heavy, you may be asked to check it in at an additional cost, so it’s best to weigh and measure your luggage before travelling.

FLEXI fare ticket holders can treat themselves to free flight changes, seat selection and a larger cabin bag on top of speedy boarding.

Meanwhile, easyJet plus members can enjoy benefits like dedicated bag drop, fast-track security, speedy boarding, seat selection and an extra cabin bag on every single flight.

There are a full range of Antler cabin bags to fit the bill for your FLEXI fare allowance. Choose from our collection of hand luggage – you just have to ensure that your small cabin bag doesn’t exceed 45 x 36 x 20 cm and that your large cabin bag doesn’t go over 56 x 45 x 25 cm.

How much is a 23kg bag on easyJet 2024?

As of August 2024, a 23kg hold bag can cost between £9.49 and £40 depending on the flight you select, the route, the time of booking and whether you pay online or at the bag drop desk.

What if my cabin bag is overweight/oversized?

If your easyJet cabin bag exceeds size and/or weight limits, you run a risk of the bag being placed into the aircraft’s hold at the gate, incurring an additional fee. So to avoid extra charges and ensure the smoothest travel experience, it’s best to check your bag’s dimensions and weight before you get to the airport.

If you’re thinking of packing in your old case in favour of a new model, you can find a handy dimensions guide for each of our bags and cases online.

What is the free baggage allowance on easyJet?

easyJet's standard free baggage allowance includes one small cabin bag per passenger. This bag must fit under the seat in front of you and must not exceed 45 x 36 x 20 cm, including handles and wheels. There is no weight limit, but it must be compact enough to fit these dimensions.

Can I take a cabin sized suitcase on easyJet without paying a fee?

Yes, you can! As long as your suitcase follows easyJet’s guidance on size and weight, you are welcome to bring a cabin-sized suitcase on board with you without paying extra for it.

What are the hand luggage rules when travelling with infants?

Travelling with babies or tots in tow? Not a problem. Infants with booked seats and children over the age of two have the same hand luggage allowance as adults. If the infant you’re travelling with will be sat on your lap rather than their own seat, you’ll be allowed an extra baby changing bag (up to a maximum of 5 x 36 x 20 cm). You just need to be able to pop it under the seat in front of you.

Keep in mind that usual restrictions on the contents of your luggage still apply.

What size cabin suitcase can I take if I pay for easyJet FLEXI fare?

If you’ve paid for easyJet FLEXI fare, you can hop on board your flight with a cabin bag measuring up to 45 x 36 x 20 cm plus a larger cabin bag measuring up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm.

Can I carry a handbag as well as hand luggage on easyJet?

easyJet’s hand luggage policy only allows one piece of free hand luggage per person. Having said that, if you don’t go anywhere without your handbag, we’d never suggest leaving it at home. You can simply add an extra bag to your booking online for a small fee.
